Klingberg Therapeutic Massage located in Matthew's NC, specializes in relief from muscular aches, pain, spasms, tightness, tension, stress and anxiety. Postural imbalances, repetitive stress injuries, accidents, improper body mechanics, lack of excersise, sitting at computers, stress, tension, anxiety and many other things contribute to a body that becomes overworked and overloaded. In our society today we spend so much time doing for and taking care of others that we often neglect our own health and well being. Taking time for a massage gives us a chance to slow down, unwind, relax and give the attention needed to loosen those tense, tight, aching muscles and renew our energy.
Therapeutic Massage is an alternative, holistic method that treats the whole person (mind, body and spirit) and not just the present symptoms or problems. It has evolved from a combination of Eastern and Western traditions and consists of manual manipulation of the body's soft tissue and muscular structure. Therapeutic massage is beneficial as a treatment for numerous conditions by itself or in conjunction with other medical protocols. A variety of massage modalities are available at Klingberg Therapeutic Massage depending on your needs.
Deep Tissue
Deep Tissue releases the chronic patterns of tension in the body with slow strokes and deep pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the grain of the muscle, tendons and fascia focusing on the deeper layers of muscle. Deep Tissue massage performed properly does not need to be painful to be successful.
Swedish Massage
Swedish is a system of long strokes, kneading and friction techniques on the more superficial layers of muscles, combined with stretching and active and passive movement of the joints. It is the foundation for other types of Western massage and is more of a relaxation technique.
Hot Stone Therapy
Stone massage involves the application of water heated basalt stones to the body creating a sensation of warmth and comfort. The warm smooth stones are used as an extension of the therapist's hands to massage the body. The direct heat relaxes the muscles allowing gentle penetration to the deeper layers. The warmth has a sedative effect on the nervous system helping you to relax and let go of stress and tension.
Neuromuscular Therapy : Trigger point Therapy
Neuromuscular Therapy is the utilization of static pressure on specific myofascial (trigger points) to break the cycle of muscular pain and spasm by manipulation of the soft tissues of the body (muscles, tendons, connective tissue) to balance the central nervous system. This therapy is used to address five elements that cause pain, Ischemia, Trigger points, nerve compression or entrapment, postural distortion and biomechanical dysfunction.
Reflexology
Reflexology is based on the principal that there are reflex areas and nerves in the feet and hands that correspond to all the glands, organs and parts of the body. Stimulating these points helps restore proper function and balance when dysfunctions occur and assists in normalizing body functions. It is very beneficial in relaxing and calming the body and flushing out harmful toxins
Pregnancy Massage
Different massage techniques are used during a prenatal massage depending on the stage of the pregnancy and the needs occuring. Studies show that massage reduces stress hormones in the body. Touch is important to the mother's physical and emotional well-being as she adapts to the changes in her body. Regardless of individual circumstances a pregnant woman's body is changed, challenged and stressed in many ways. There are many different ways to position the pregnant mother on the massage table to insure comfort, safety and security.
Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction, relaxation and to promote healing. It is administered by 'laying of hands' and is based on the idea that an unseen 'life force or universal energy' flows through us. The purpose of Reiki is to balance this energy (known as Chi or Ki) to treat the whole body (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual)
